| Wash-ability Test for
“Faux suede” by Sherwoods Fabrics Fabric: 100% Polyester: suitable for furnishings, curtains, or dress making.Rub-Test: Exceeds 50,000 Sample tested measured 46cm x 98cm before washing Colour: Cream The sample was thoroughly marked with: 2 shades of lipstick Blue ball point pen Butter Strong Black Coffee allowed to soak into the fabric for one hour, the fabric was then dried (initially the coffee just beaded on the surface) Black Tea was allowed to soak into the fabric for one hour, the fabric was then dried Red wine was allowed to soak into the fabric, the fabric was then dried Finally to add insult to injury I cleaned my black shoes to give a general soiling The sample was then washed in a washing machine on a 40c temp, short wash cycle Using Waitrose non-bio wash powder Final spin at 800cpm The fabric was removed from the machine immediately after the wash cycle INSPECTED AND DRIED. The Result: COMMENTSNo visible damage to the surface nap and no change in the fabric character or handle There was no creasing whatsoever and therefore pressing was not necessary The sample size was the same, no shrinkage, stretching, and was not misshapen There was no visible trace of the lipstick ( 2 shades ) The tea and coffee stains were totally removed The “shoe-shine” treatment, all soiling was removed The blue ball point pen was vaguely visible when the fabric was wet BUT Disappeared when the fabric was dry !!!!! THE BUTTER a faint mark was left, always a difficult mark to remove from any fabric. Suggest either pre-treating the butter mark with an emulsifier or washing with a Biological powder. The red wine left a slight mark that was only visible if it was held up to the light. Second wash at 60c using Waitrose non-bio wash powder COMMENTS: Wash at 40c short cycle, non bio powder, press on the reverse side at a low setting if required. This fabric can be treated with a fire retardant back coat if required.Sherwoods Fabrics Ltd, 39 Church Street, Great Malvern Worcestershire, UK, WR14 2AA Inquiry line: (44) 01684 572 379 |
